Apple pulls plug on hidden Safari install Well I posted about this a while ago, including a bit of a rant as to my annoyance to the whole subject. Well it seems Apple has listened and has taken action against itself by removing their autoamted Safari installer with quicktime and iTunes patches... GREAT SUCCESS!

Now you don't have to download crap you don't want or even need!

UPDATES HOLY FUCKING SHIT I UPDATED THE SITE

That out of the way, welcome to v1.5 of SlightlyRandom.Net. The changes are here to stay and this isn't the complete version, why is it up then you may ask? Well I know I wont be able to work on this for a while due to my life which I shall explain later but its stable, it works well and its quick so it might as well be used.

In other site news take a yonder at the forums, THEY ARE CLEAN. I finally got around to updating the shitty invision board captcha system to something better so no more porn bot spams. I also prunned out all the bot accounts so they can't post again and cleaned up their posts. The posts remaining are from valid members though they may still have some spam bot shit left in them which I haven't bothered to remove.

Blogging Time:
Well as life goes on it's become even more busy and more of a fuck in the face by a prostitute cross dressing midget with rabbies.... It's throwing me a bit of a curve ball at the moment so I shall explain. Currently weekly schedule consists of four shifts at work a week, all very strenuous, followed by 3 extremely long days at university, time inbetween is spent trying to be sociable or with friends, this I can handle, the extra shit thrown in is not fun.

By extra shit I take for example today, being screwed around by family (YAY!) getting a fucking speeding ticket on double demerit weekend followed by seeing every second motorist around me clearly breaking the law and being a danger to everyone and getting off scott free (fuck you police... seriously my speeding is probably the most un dangerous thing on the roads in NSW at the moment...), followed by a shift at work which I was not meant to do but had to since some fucktard had to have the easter weekend off... FUCK YOU MATE... So much for being at one of my mates DJ gig's tonight and seeing Sean Tyas and Simon Patterson live... oh and the same fuck screwed me over tomorrow leaving me on the most crazy shift by myself when I'm meant to be at a best mates 22nd birthday...

If you don't hear from me in the coming months I'm probably locked up for shoving a 10KG printer through someone's head, most probably the fucktard from work...

GOODNIGHT YAWL!

Adult Spam Down...? According to a report from Symantec Corporation’s own data, pornographic spam comprised just 3% of the total amount of spam in February, the lowest figure ever recorded. Overall, about 70% of the e-mail messages monitored by Symantec were spam, half of which originated from computers in North America. Spammers concentrated on health-related products and other general product pitches. Spam is also increasingly being localized; for example, there was a rise in gambling-related spam in German, Italian and French, while previously it was only mostly in English.

Improvements in blocking and filtering methods have driven spammers to use new techniques to get into inboxes. Some 38% of the spam sent in February used images in messages while others often included text slanted at upward or downward angles. The latter hampers optical character recognition technology in anti-spam technologies.

AMD in Financial Crisis The high-flying Advanced Micro Devices Inc. of 2006 has given way to a company in financial peril, saddled with debt and bleeding from a brutal price battle with its larger and suddenly resurgent Silicon Valley archrival, Intel Corp.

AMD finds itself the subject of rumors of a possible takeover or private-equity cash infusion. While it wasn't long ago that AMD was stealing a big slice of the microprocessor market and emerging as a long-term threat to Intel, those very gains may have left AMD's well running dry.

Though the price competition has cut into both chip makers' profits, Wall Street has punished AMD's stock particularly hard. Its shares have plunged more than 60 percent over the past year on fears about the company's ability to continue gaining share without hurting profit margins. Meanwhile, Intel's stock is down just 4 percent.

Investors are concerned AMD is spending too heavily to keep up with Intel's aggressive transition to next-generation manufacturing technology.

AMD's fall has wiped out about $10 billion in shareholder wealth. Analysts say the exodus will likely continue until the company rolls out its new chips this year and resolves fears about its dwindling cash reserves and high capital expenditures.

Parents arrested over Myspace postings Now this is hilarious.

Turns out some little kid was getting abused by her parents (a 12 year old that is) and mentioned it on myspace, authorities found out about it thanks to myspace and arrested the parents.

Now the question though, do we know if the kid was lieing? and seriously did the cops believe a post on myspace of all places by a 12 year old kid so easily... It's pretty fucked up law system going on there!

news post below as usual.

Vista 64bit the way to go for gamers? MEMORY MAKERS are banking on the 64-bit version of Vista becoming the next big operating system. Initially, people are going to move to 32-bit Vista, but for any gamer or someone that wants to use more than 2GB of memory, 32 bits won't do any good. So the memory industry will move from 2x1GB kits to 2x2GB kits and hope that Vista 64 bit takes off. But it won't be easy, as vendors are still struggling to have the 32 drivers ready and the target is January the 30th.

After that, the focus will go strongly on 64 bit. We tried the RC2 Vista 64 bit and learned that you can install everything, including Raid and Sound Blaster X-Fi but, despite 64 graphic drivers from Nvidia and ATI, many games wont even install or run on Vista 64 bit. The industry expects that the big move will take place after Q2 2007, so when Vista starts standing on its feet.

Microsoft Hopes to Lower Piracy of Vista Microsoft Corp. expects software piracy, which costs the company billions of dollars every year, to ease with the introduction of its new Windows Vista operating system and Office 2007 software suite, Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Thursday. Microsoft launched Windows Vista to businesses Thursday, releasing the first major upgrade in five years of its dominant operating system that sits on more than 90 percent the world's computers.

In an interview, Ballmer said that more than 20 percent of its software running around the world is pirated and the company aims to lower that figure with a new authentication program to run in Windows Vista and Office 2007. Last quarter, the Microsoft division dominated by Windows desktop sales accounted for $3.3 billion of $10.8 billion in total revenue.

"We're trying to make it easier for people who somehow have received improperly licensed versions to get legal, and we also put more roadblocks in," said Ballmer, declining to specify how much it can reduce the piracy rate. "It will help," he said.
